The Miami firm facilitated provision of goods and services for a ship docked in Iran and for a plane that touched down in Khartoum, Sudan by non-US affiliates of the firm. It also provided services for 30 unlicensed flights to Cuba.
The base penalty for these violations, all non-egregious, was $73,151. The Sudanese and Iranian violations were self-reported, but the Cuban ones were not.
The discount reflects the following:
World Fuel has no history of prior OFAC violations; World Fuel cooperated with OFAC’s investigation, including signing a statute of limitations tolling agreement; and World Fuel has enhanced its OFAC compliance plan.
